Privacy Policy

Effective August 10, 2026

Global Math Circle (“GMC,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the Adult Math Circles website at sessions.theglobalmathcircle.org. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices available to you.

Information you provide

When you register for or apply to an Adult Math Circle, you may provide information such as:

  • Your name and email address
  • Your mathematical background and prior math-circle experience
  • Your reasons for participating
  • How you heard about the program
  • Scholarship-related information
  • Optional information about accommodations or participation support
  • Your preference regarding future Adult Math Circles emails

We use this information to review and administer registrations, communicate with applicants and participants, provide requested participation support, and improve the program.

Optional accommodation information may include sensitive personal information. We use it only to help you participate and do not use it for advertising or website analytics.

Submitting a registration allows us to send messages necessary to administer that registration and event. We send promotional email about future offerings only when you have agreed to receive it. You may unsubscribe from promotional email at any time.

Event registration and payment

Registration and payment are provided through Luma. When you open or submit a registration form, Luma and its payment providers may collect information including your name, contact information, registration responses, and payment information.

GMC does not receive your complete payment-card number. Luma and its payment providers process payment information according to their own privacy policies and terms.

You can review Luma’s Privacy Policy.

Website analytics and campaign attribution

We use first-party website measurement to understand how visitors find and use the website, which sessions interest them, and whether website visits lead to registration clicks. This measurement operates by default when you visit the website.

Information collected may include:

  • Pages viewed and website interactions
  • Content-section reach, 90% page scrolls, FAQ openings, and session-detail openings
  • Registration-button clicks
  • Referring websites
  • Dates and times of visits
  • A randomly generated browser identifier kept for up to 90 days and a shorter session identifier
  • Campaign identifiers, including UTM parameters, gclid, and fbclid
  • Whether a registration was completed, when technically available from Luma

We do not include names, email addresses, payment details, registration responses, mathematical-background responses, scholarship information, or accommodation information in these website event records.

The random identifier and campaign information are stored in your browser so repeat visits from that browser can be connected for campaign and website analysis. The identifier does not by itself tell us your name and does not connect activity across different browsers or devices.

We use this information for website measurement, program planning, and campaign attribution. Event records are stored by our website host and summarized in GMC’s access-controlled analytics and reporting tools. We do not use this information for personalized advertising or remarketing. GMC does not sell personal information.

Your analytics choice

You may request to opt out of future website analytics by emailing us at benjaming@theglobalmathcircle.org.

Because analytics operates through browser- and device-specific technologies, we may ask you to complete an additional step on the browser or device you use to visit the website. An opt-out applies to future analytics collection and does not automatically delete aggregated or previously transmitted analytics data that cannot reasonably be connected back to you.

How we share information

We disclose personal information only as reasonably necessary to operate the website and Adult Math Circles program, including to:

  • Luma and payment providers for registration and payment processing
  • Website hosting and technical-service providers
  • Facilitators or GMC personnel who need information to administer a session or provide requested support
  • Government authorities or other parties when required by law or reasonably necessary to protect participants, GMC, or others

These providers may process information on our behalf or under their own privacy policies, depending on the service involved.

We do not sell personal information or provide it to third parties for their independent targeted advertising.

Data retention

We retain registration and program-administration information for as long as reasonably necessary to administer the program, maintain appropriate organizational and financial records, resolve disputes, and comply with legal obligations.

Website event-level data is generally retained for up to 14 months. Aggregated reports that no longer distinguish an individual browser may be retained longer.

The random visitor identifier and campaign-attribution information stored in your browser expire after no more than 90 days under normal operation, and may be removed sooner by you or your browser. An analytics opt-out request does not by itself remove information already stored in your browser.

Your privacy requests

Depending on where you live and which laws apply, you may have rights concerning your personal information, including rights to request access, correction, or deletion.

You may submit a privacy request by contacting us at the email address below. We may need to verify your identity before completing a request. We will respond as required by applicable law and may retain information when necessary for legal, financial, security, or program-administration purposes.

Email preferences can be changed using the unsubscribe link in promotional messages. Unsubscribing from promotional email does not prevent us from sending messages necessary to administer an active registration or event.

Information security

We use reasonable administrative and technical measures intended to protect personal information. No website, transmission method, or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

Adult participation

Adult Math Circles are intended for adults. This website and these offerings are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 through this website.

If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information, contact us so that we can review and, where appropriate, delete it.

External services and links

The website may contain links to or embedded features from third-party services. Their handling of information is governed by their own privacy policies, not this policy.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when our services, technology, or privacy practices change. The revised policy will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Material changes may also be communicated through the website or by other appropriate means.
