There are few places where adults get together to think seriously and playfully. This is one of them.

Join a small live group online and explore a rich mathematical question together. No lecture and no predetermined path.

The idea

What is a math circle?

A math circle begins with a question: simple enough to enter, rich enough to deeply explore.

The circle gathers around the question. We try examples, notice patterns, test claims, and let our exploration lead us wherever it goes.

The guide opens the door and keeps us anchored; the circle does the thinking.

Inside the room

Inside a Session

A session starts with an accessible mystery offered by the guide: a question you can begin playing with right away. From that point on, the participants lead the way.

The circle starts by climbing the question from wherever the participants can find a hold: examples, drawings, guesses, simplifications. Anything goes—including challenging the offers.

As the circle works, the question begins to change shape and patterns begin to appear. Often, by the end, the group has seen something new and uncovered the next mystery to keep thinking about.

Math circles are always live

Understanding is generated together.

A math circle only works when people are thinking together in real time.

In a lecture, the aim is to absorb an explanation. In a math circle, the aim is to actively generate the understanding. Your questions, answers, and explanations shape the path of the circle.

Unlike school, there is no script to follow. The circle is alive and improvisational because the thinking is happening in the room.

Think of it as amateur mathematical research collaboration: playful, serious, and built around discovery.

Join a small live group online, guided by an experienced math-circle leader.

  4. 04

No mathematical background is required unless a session says otherwise.

  5. 05

Each listing states its core length—60 or 90 minutes—with an optional conversation afterward.

How many places do you know where adults get together to think seriously and playfully?

A math circle gives you a place to be sincerely curious and unapologetically rigorous with peers who want to explore just like you.
